For details on how to apply this update, which includes the changes described in this advisory, refer to: https://access.redhat.com/articles/11258 Workaround: There's no known mitigation for this issue besides avoid using gitk with untrusted repositories or unstrusted files. Workaround: To mitigate this issue, avoid using --recurse-submodules when cloning repositories from untrusted sources; instead, clone normally and only initialize or update submodules manually after reviewing them. Workaround: Mitigation for this issue is either not available or the currently available options do not meet the Red Hat Product Security criteria comprising ease of use and deployment, applicability to widespread installation base or stability.
