✅ Remediation

For details on how to apply this update, which includes the changes described in this advisory, refer to: https://access.redhat.com/articles/11258 The system must be rebooted for this update to take effect. Workaround: To mitigate this issue, prevent module udf from being loaded. Please see https://access.redhat.com/solutions/41278 for how to blacklist a kernel module to prevent it from loading automatically. Workaround: Mitigation for this issue is either not available or the currently available options do not meet the Red Hat Product Security criteria comprising ease of use and deployment, applicability to widespread installation base or stability. Workaround: To mitigate this issue, prevent the `amdgpu` kernel module from loading. This can be achieved by creating a blacklist configuration file. 1. Create a file named `/etc/modprobe.d/blacklist-amdgpu.conf` with the following content: ``` blacklist amdgpu ``` 2. Regenerate the initramfs to ensure the blacklist is applied during boot: For Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8 and 9: ```bash sudo dracut -f -v ``` For Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7: ```bash sudo dracut -f ``` 3. Reboot the system for the changes to take effect. **Caveats:** Blacklisting the `amdgpu` module will disable functionality related to AMD GPUs, potentially affecting graphical display or any applications that rely on AMD graphics hardware. Ensure this is acceptable for your system's intended use before applying the mitigation. Workaround: Mitigation for this issue is either not available or the currently available options don't meet the Red Hat Product Security criteria comprising ease of use and deployment, applicability to widespread installation base or stability. Workaround: The bug could happen only when XDP sockets and BPF being used. The XDP sockets allows a channel between XDP programs and userspace applications. Even if BPF enabled (by default disabled in Red Hat Enterprise Linux), it requires root privileges to trigger this issue. The mitigation is not using BPF or not using XDP. For systems on that version, the same mitigation can be applied. However, in that version, the unprivileged_bpf_disabled sysctl takes only two values: 0 for enabled, 1 for disabled. Unprivileged BPF can be disabled by setting that sysctl in a file, such as in /etc/sysctl.d/
