CVE-2026-82049

HIGHPre-NVD 8.48.4
EchelonGraph scoreMEDIUM confidence

This high-severity CVE scores 8.4 under a secondary CVSS source (NVD's own analysis pending). EPSS exploit probability: 0.2%, top 92% of all CVEs by exploit prediction. GitHub Security Advisory data not yet ingested — confidence will rise once GHSA publishes (typical lag: hours to days for open-source ecosystem CVEs; never for infrastructure-only CVEs).

No vendor fix yet — apply a workaround or compensating control (WAF / firewall / segmentation) and watch for a patch.

In CPython 3.13 and earlier, the tarfile module's data and tar extraction filters are vulnerable to crafted archives containing a hard link to a symbolic link. Such archives may cause extraction to modify the permissions or modification time of a file outside the destination directory, or expose the contents of that file within the extracted tree.
